Lying to your kids makes you a better parent...

Dear Cheeks,

By now you know that I lied to you when we went to the salon on Tuesday. Though you're not as traumatized as you were when we left, I know you still haven't forgotten that I lied right to your face without even stuttering. I'd like to say a few things in my defense about why I lied to you and then tricked you into getting your hair cut.

1) You won't let me brush your hair in the morning.

2) You won't let me put your hair up after the non-existent brushing.

3) You get food in your hair every.single.day [you know this drives daddy crazy].

Needless to say, those are three very good reasons to get your hair cut. An added bonus is that your new first grade teacher will stop wondering if your mother has enough money to invest in a brush.

Even though you're only six and probably won't understand this, I just want to tell you that you can't get your hair cut like mine b/c your hair was shorter before we even set foot into the salon.

When the hair cut lady and I were whispering in the corner, we were trying to figure out how to get the back of your hair to look like this without you realizing how much was actually being cut off.

So I just wanted to say that I'm sorry I lied to your face deceived you.

Just remember, it wasn't all bad.

Love,
Momma

I just can't get over that picture. She's so freaking adorable.

It's true, lying to your kids DOES make you a better parent. It was for her own good, right? And it saved your sanity, too, which makes it all ok. :P

Very well said.

Good luck with your new adventure.

Lying is in the parents book of rules. How else are you supposed to get the haircut you want when they are young? (Words of wisdom - it doesn't work later on, so DO IT NOW!!! FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN!!!) And yes, I meant to yell it. You must heed my words. Not that you can't continue to lie and cheat and steal... it just doesn't continue to work at the hairdressers. LOL!

And she is just a cutie!!

Holly,

You're the one that convinced me that I made a sacrifice for the greater good.

Jack,

You owe me. xo

Lori,

That is great advice. There are already certain things that I can't get away with anymore. I have to be more creative as she gets older.

Mas,

LOL! She's been wearing them for about a month.

OMg she is soooo stinking cute! SO cute! Love the hair cut.

Let me tell you, if either of my kids wouldn't let me brush their hair in the morning it would be whacked off as well so I blame you not. LIE!

Just print this post so she can see it when she's older! lol

She's too cute! And so is her new haircut.

I have had to lie to my daughters a time or two and felt bad about it until I convinced myself that it was for their own good.

You have to do what you have to do. Sometimes it's for the kids' good. I'm a mom, too, so I understand.

Casee, your daughter is adorable!!!!! I love the cut and honestly, she doesn't look too upset that she was lied to! LOL

Both my girls have had cuts like that in the past and I loved it! But they insist on long hair. *sigh* My nine year old is horrible about letting me brush it or pin it back. HORRIBLE. Drives me nuts. I'm so happy one of us is not in that place any longer. :)
